States’ Rights Bills Moving Forward

The Patrick Henry Caucus is staying true to their word and moving bills forward they say protect and reclaim state sovereignty. The first – opting out of federal health care – passed out of committee but has been sent to Legislative Research for a Constitutional review. Sponsor Carl Wimmer is confident it will pass muster and will be back on the House floor very soon.

Yesterday, the Utah Senate voted to approve a bill that would deregulate Utah-made guns, similar to the Montana law passed last year. Proponents of the bill say that the measure puts the federal government on notice to stay out of Utah’s business.

Sen. Margaret Dayton’s SB11 — which exempts firearms manufactured and sold in Utah from all federal regulations, including criminal-background checks — passed 19-10

    I hope they are having fun with these unconstitutional “message” bills. But when they pass “message” bills the taxpayers get the legal bills.
