In addition to discussion on GRAMA, Utah DataPoints wonders where all the freshman have gone,

*”Between 1897 and 1937, 61% of legislators in any given session were true freshmen (on average) in each legislative session. Even if we exclude the first two decades (when everybody was new), we find a 57% freshman rate between 1917 and 1937. Between 1981 and 2011, by contrast, only 22% of legislators were freshmen (on average) in any given session. Between 2001 and 2011, the average fell to 19%.” Utah Data Points

*Well alrighty then. Vice President Joe Biden said Wednesday that if Sen. Bill Nelson (D-Fla.) loses his reelection race next year, it means President Obama and the Democratic presidential ticket won’t win the key battleground state, either. Appreciate the helpful insights. 🙂 The Hill

*On the one-year anniversary of the passage of Obamacare, at least one Democratic congressman believes the U.S. Supreme Court has a good chance of striking down the law’s individual mandate as unconstitutional. Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) said Wednesday

“I don’t believe that this debate is going away,” Weiner said. “I think that if Democrats believe that it’s going to go away, they’re wrong, and I don’t represent the hide under your desk wing of the Democratic Party. I think we’ve got to go forward into this.” The Hill

*Speaking of Rep. Weiner and Obamacare, he also said Wednesday he was looking into how a Medicaid waiver might work for New York City. New York is one of two states that pass on Medicaid expenses to cities and localities, so “the city winds up having an enormous Medicaid expense.” He might want to call Utah Senator Dan Liljenquist for some ideas on how to make that work. Politico

*And if none of that interests you, the how about tiny giraffes that can fit in your lap?  Head on over to Sokoblovsky Farms and check ’em out.  They were so darn cute, I signed up to get one.  I have a while to wait, though.  Here’s the answer for me:”Congratulations!!! You make 27875 on waiting list for petite lap giraffe. You can expect giraffe in winter 43074! Then you will be most happy. Share greatest news with family on the facebook or tweeter.” Sokoblovsky Farms (Yes, I know it’s fake – still darn cute though)

A thought occurred to me that the reason for so much churn is because of issues you are seeing with GRAMA. You were sold a bill of false goods by the Republican caucus, the Utah public is unhappy with it. You seem to still be trying to tow the party line despite public outcry and the facts that the talking points are all a bunch of hot air. It may be a thought if you want to keep your seat come election time.
